Justice

General

The Justice card symbolizes truth, fairness, and law. In traditional tarot, Justice sits on a throne with skills in her hand, the scales representing the balance of everything. With a sword in hand, it represents clarity of mind in order to be just and fair. Justice can sometimes symbolize human laws, universal laws, or both.

Upright

The positive interpretation of the Justice card talks about truth and this can be a good thing (but sometimes, it may not be easy to hear). I see the Justice card as a break through as well (Danni, @thedivinefeminineuk, brought my attention to this alternative interpretation). And when it comes to love, I see Justice as a good omen, and sometimes can symbolise marriage and commitment. There is balance in your relationship and both of you treat each other with respect. When it comes to career and finances, I take this as a positive sign, especially if you are in the legal/law enforcement profession. It is also possible that because you remain accountable (of your actions and finances) and are fair in your dealings with others, this would be rewarded.

Reversed

Contrary to the upright position (or the more positive position), the Justice card may predict that you might be treated by your partner in an unfair manner, or you may have certain unfair expectations of your partner. It can also refer to dishonesty in one’s career and not being accountable for your part in how things have played out (especially when something goes wrong). When the Justice shows up in a negative position, it can also refer to financial ruin as you are not keeping a good account of your finances. There is a possibility that the Justice card can talk about legal issues and getting into trouble with the law or someone that is around you would be getting into some issues with the law.

Astrological / Temporal Associations

The Justice card is represented by Libra, and Libra is known for its intuition and desire to maintain balance and harmony in their relationships. Libra also represents intellect and are known for comparing and thinking in relative terms, instead of in absolutes. These traits are what Justice embodies and it definitely makes sense why Libra is the astrological sign for Justice. Libra is also ruled by Venus, who is the goddess of love, and grace, charm, and beauty are ruled by Venus. It is possible that Justice, in dispensing a just and fair outcome, does so with grace and charm as well (especially since they seek balance).
