Nine of Pentacles
General
The Nine of Pentacles talks about satisfaction and serenity. This is about resting after a hard day’s work and doing some self-care. I see this card as one about attaining peace and contentment with the results of one’s hard work. In traditional tarot, this card depicts a woman standing in a vineyard and seems to be dressed in fine clothes. She has a house in the distance and the vineyard has plenty of grapes and pentacles that grow, signifying her abundance and material wealth. This can also show a plentiful harvest.
Upright
In the upright position, this talks about a person who has entered a period of time where they are feeling stable and happy with their life. They are feeling fulfilled and they are feeling independent. This person is enjoying the fruits of their hard work. In love, I often see this as indicating that this person is single and not someone who would settle for less than what they deserve. They have high standards for lovers and would want the best of the best. They are not co-dependent and value their independence in relationships. In career and finances, this talks about success and achievement in one’s career. This often ties in with financial abundance and perhaps can indicate purchasing property.
Reversed
In the reversed position, the Nine of Pentacles indicate instability and hardship, in particular financial hardship. This can talk about a false sense of security, or pretending to be more secure that one actually is. This is about overspending beyond one’s means. In love, this card can talk about a fear of commitment. The reverse is true as well, perhaps, one partner may be staying in the relationship even though the love has faded, but is staying because they are afraid of being alone. In career and finances, this card can talk about a lack of work-life balance or an inability to curb impulses when spending. This can also talk about laziness and not willing to put in the effort to succeed.
