Ace of Cups
General
The Aces usually symbolise new beginnings, and the Ace of Cups symbolise a new beginning in love since Cups are emotional cards. But I also see the Ace of Cups as more of a self love kind of card too. It is a reminder to always love ourselves and fill our cups before we start any relationships. In traditional tarot, a hand holds up a cup which is overflowing with water. The water in the cup symbolise pure and unadulterated love, but also intuition and spirituality. As much as the Ace of Cups symbolises love beginnings, it can also be a reminder to connect with your higher self or your inner knowing.
Upright
In the upright position, the Ace of Cups can symbolise a heart chakra awakening, or healing. But it also represents the opportunity for friendship and relationships. In love, this could indicate a new relationship or friendship. It can also indicate a deepening of your relationship with a person. I often see the Ace of Cups as a positive card for love and relationships, but I also see it as coming into a period of deeper understanding of oneself and a lot more self love. In career and finances, this could mean that you would feel positively about your job or that you would enjoy your work and the connections you make there. I do not really see the Ace of Cups as a card of prosperity, more of a card that indicates emotional fulfilment rather than material wealth.
Reversed
In the reversed position, the Ace of Cups could mean that you would be disappointed with the outcome of what you are asking. In love, this could mean a separation is on the horizon. It could also mean that this connection is a one way street, and you may be infatuated with this person but this is a one sided thing. Sometimes, in the reversed position, the Ace of Cups could mean insecurities that may ruin the connection. In career and finances, this could mean that you or the querent is feeling quite unmotivated in their career and a little frustrated with their financial situation.
