The Sun

General

The Sun appearing in your reading (whether upright or reversed, whether surrounded by other positive or negative cards) means that things are going to be okay. Nothing is as bad as it seems. Things are going to go well in your life, and that there will be happiness in the end. You can look forward to your future with the Sun card appearing here. The Sun can represent the light after a period of darkness. In traditional tarot, there is a child on a horse looking carefree. It is almost as if the Sun talks about rebirth (and with that comes purity, almost starting from a blank slate) and you would be experiencing life again in a whole new way. The Sun is about illumination and things coming to light for you.

Upright

Generally, the Sun in a positive/upright position means that there is going to be fulfilment. There is a sense of renewed self belief and confidence, and your solar plexus chakra is aligned. In love, it means that there is happiness and love in your relationship. You are feeling incredibly positive and this is attracting love into your life. People are attracted to you. In career and finances, you are feeling energetic and enthusiastic about your job and the work that you do and this leads to success in your projects, promotions and simply fulfilment of your goals. It could mean that you are attracting abundance into your life and bringing in a lot of success.

Reversed

When the Sun comes out, there is nothing to worry about. However, there could be an instance where you could be so wrapped up in the good parts of a situation, project, or relationship you are failing to see anything which is not quite right. It could also signify that there is a lack of confidence or fulfilment, or that there has been a few temporary setbacks in your situation. In love, this could mean that you might be a little bored with your person or taking love for granted. In your career and finances, you may be passed over because people are unable to appreciate your work, or you may be overly confident and have unrealistic beliefs, and this may result in a few set backs. But these setbacks are temporary (as long as you learn quickly and shift your mindset and behaviours accordingly).

Astrological Associations

The Sun is associated by the Sun in astrology. The Sun, the giver of life, represents our conscious mind in Astrology. It represents our will to live and our creative life force. The Sun is our basic identity, representing self-realization, and represents our identity and also represents life force. The sun represents our will to take the lead, our energy, our joy and this is pretty much what the Sun in tarot represents as well.
