Three of Cups

General

The Three of Cups is a card about friendship and being part of a community. It could mean coming together to celebrate something, an achievement or a milestone (similar to the Four of Wands). The Three of Cups is a great card to get if you are hoping for relationship improvements and/or to reconnect with others. In traditional tarot, three women lift their cups in celebration. They are wearing wreaths, which symbolise victory and success (very much like the Six of Wands). There is much to celebrate – life, beauty, milestones!

Upright

In the upright position, the Three of Cups is pretty positive. This is about the community that you turn to for support and love when the going gets tough, but it’s also about coming together as a community to celebrate or get through difficult times. In love, this could mean that there is a social gathering up ahead. This could be where you meet your person/counterpart. Sometimes, this could mean a friendship that turns into a relationship. Oftentimes, I see the Three of Cups as a reconciliation card. Or a card that promises reconnection between people. In career and finances, this could be a celebration of a milestone at your workplace. Or you have made plenty of workplace friendships, and these are the ones that support you as you go through difficult times or tough bosses/external deadlines You may be reaching certain financial milestones too!

Reversed

The Three of Cups in the reversed position could mean that you have rejected the society that you come from or the community has rejected you. This could also mean that you have lost touch with the community, or friends. In love, you may be experiencing a friends with benefits situation. This could mean that your person only sees you as a friend and not as someone that they would like to commit to for the long term. In other situations, this could be an indication that there is a third party or you may be the third party in the relationship. In career and finances, there may be a toxic work environment. Perhaps you did not make as many meaningful connections as you might hope and everyone is out to save their own skin. This card could also mean that you may have overspent your money on social events or on things way beyond your means.
