Two of Cups

General

The Two of Cups is a card indicates divine union, partnerships and true love. This is a card that speaks of two people coming together, getting married, or joining forces on a project. In traditional tarot, there is a symbol of Hermes’ caduceus between the two cups, which is related to negotiation and trade (as Hermes is the Greek god of trade) and the two cups represent duality. There is a chimera above the caduceus, which symbolises fire and passion that governs the partnership. This card, naturally, is one of the best cards to receive for relationships – romantic or otherwise.

Upright

In the upright position the Two of Cups is a positive card to receive if you are looking to build a strong connection or partnership with someone. When it comes to love, this could be a great indication that this is a true love or a soulmate connection. It could also indicate a relationship starting or being rekindled. And in other circumstances, this could indicate that you and your person (or the querent and the person that they are asking about) work well as a team, and this indicates strong bonds that would ensure the relationship lasts. In career and finances, this could mean a business partnership is being formed. For those who are working in a 9 to 5, this could indicate good relationships with colleagues.

Reversed

In the reversed position the Two of Cups could mean that there may be problems in a relationship. Sometimes, this could mean a relationship falling apart or a separation occurring. It could also mean that there is a lack of balance in the relationship. In love, this could mean that separation is on the horizon. This could also mean that there is an uneven power dynamic or someone is doing a lot of giving and the other is simply taking and taking. There may be a heart chakra blockage or emotional blockages that do not allow the connection to progress forward. In career and finances, this could mean that your business partnerships are falling apart or that this is a partnership where your partner takes advantage of you. This could also mean tensions and conflict in the workplace or within your partnership.
